About The Artist

Ingvill Gaarder is a Norwegian visual artist whose practice centres on abstract and semi-abstract landscape painting, exploring atmosphere, colour, light, and the emotional qualities of place. Moving between expansive colour gradients and densely layered organic forms, her work investigates the relationship between memory, perception, and the natural world.

After studying at Kunstskolen i Bergen, Gaarder completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Arts in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London. She later completed a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration at Middlesex University, London. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in private collections in Europe, North America, and Asia.

Based in Tau on Norway's west coast, Gaarder draws inspiration from the region's changing light, weather, and landscape. While painting remains central to her practice, she is increasingly exploring textiles, resin, and light-based installations, expanding her visual language while continuing to investigate themes of transformation, perception, and presence.
